Sylvia Loveless is the director of Montessori Training Center in Shingle Springs, California. She has been in the Montessori field first as a teacher, and then as the owner and director of a Montessori preschool in Hawaii.  She was an adjunct professor in the Education Department of Chaminade University of Honolulu from 1987 to 2016. She was also an instructor at the Montessori Training Center before becoming its director in 2017.

 

Sylvia grew up in India, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Ethiopia. She is married, with two grown children: her daughter is also a Montessorian. She became an American citizen and long-term resident of Hawaii before moving to her current California home. While training teachers, Sylvia also taught in Montessori schools, first at the pre primary (preschool) level, and later, the elementary level, from 2011 to 2017. Sylvia has been an inspirational presenter at the American Montessori Society’s Annual Conference and has written for Montessori Life.
